About Me

Jennifer McIntosh (that's me) was a YA librarian for 7 years before deciding to stay home and entertain a younger audience. I've chaired VOYA's Top Shelf Fiction for Middle Schoolers Committee and presented at numerous NYLA conferences. I'm happy to report that I am once again reviewing for VOYA.

I get most books from the library or I purchase them on my own. I will accept donations from authors or publishers, but only if you promise not to cry if I don't like your book. If I don't respond to your request, it means I am not interested right now. I do not respond to each email. I prefer to read fantasy, but will accept most any genre as long as it's YA and fiction. I'm taking a little hiatus from accepting submissions right now (March 2012).

I don't accept self-published books, but I'm happy to support an indie pub.

If you'd like to read why I read YA, you can do so here. Go on, I'll wait.

Unlike most book bloggers I don't want to write a book. Okay, sure, it would be cool to write a book. But that's not my end-goal. I don't want to work in publishing. I like being home with the kids. What I want to do, more than anything, is to get paid for what I already do. I want to write YA book reviews for a newspaper/magazine/blog and get paid more than pennies or adsense or whatever gimmick most places pay. I want to get paid for my reviews, not for page views. Feel free to make my dream come true.
